The authors of a successful data mining book have decided, with their publisher's blessing, to put the book online as a .pdf. I am sure that they sell plenty of copies in university settings, and I love to have hard copies of book I like a lot. I haven't spent much time with it yet, but it looks promising, and they also do workshops periodically.
